Production Sound Engineer

The Laramie Project takes place in Laramie, Wyoming and is based on the tragic death of Matthew Shepard. The sound designer, Chris Baine, wanted to recreate the vastness of the Wyoming planes. To do this, I created an audio system that surrounded the audience. In addition to surrounding the audience with sound, I used a mixture of direct and indirect sound. We used a four loudspeaker system for the direct sound, primarily for music playback and practical microphone transmission. The remainder of the loudspeakers we all diffused sound that were bouncing off walls and the celing. By using diffused and reflected sound, the designer was able to create the wide open planes of Wyoming, yet was able to focus the sound and draw the audience into the depth of the story.
