Masters Thesis - May 2008
Web-Based Digital Portfolios for the Sound Designer is my Masters Thesis for the Graduate Sound Design program at the North Carolina School of the Arts. The thesis explores how a sound designer can take advantage of the digital medium that the Internet ha provided to create and distribute a portfolio. With that in mind I focused my research in two primary areas, what needs to be included in a digital portfolio and how a digital portfolio could be presented. I interviewed educators in sound design programs as well as those in charge of hiring at LORT member theatres to determine what could be included and how they would prefer a portfolio be presented. Likewise, I consulted many visual design resources in order to provide a general guide as to what visual design techniques could be used in order to achieve a visually effective digital portfolio for the web.
